Tip #3 - Run your fingers through your hair. Yes, we’re serious.
It’s time to get a little excited because we’re going to share with you a closely guarded secret at Hair Metrics that will give you one additional layer of protection if you follow all of the prior tips and FBRFX instructions AND use the holding mist we recommend. And yes, hair fiber users who have done this have run their figures through their hair with very minimal shedding. This won’t work for everyone, and tends to work better with fibers on the back and top of the head vs. the hairline, but it’s worth an experiment.
Ok, so what’s the secret? Makeup sealant.
Makeup sealant is made with a different formulation than hairspray, and is specifically designed to affix powders and gels to skin, which is why it works so well with hair fibers. Now, makeup sealant goes on a bit wet, so we do not recommend styling your hair after using it, but for an extra layer of protection, we feel it’s worth your time to see if it works for you. Beware, not all makeup sealants are equal! We strongly recommend THIS MAKEUP SEALANT which can be found on Amazon.com. After you have applied fibers, hair spray, and styled with FBRFX, spray your hair (anywhere fibers could have been distributed) with 4 to 8 pumps (total) of the sealant about 8 inches away from your head (remember to close your eyes!). Again, the sealant goes on wet so let it dry for at least 5 minutes, and we do not recommend any styling or intentional touching or displacing of your hair. But, if at the end of the day, you run your fingers through your hair, you may find a significant reduction in fiber shedding. We know its a bit pricey at around $16 for 2oz, but its the best we’ve found so far.
Remember to dust off stray fibers with FBRFX on your neck, ears, and face BEFORE applying the sealant. And, in addition to reducing fiber shedding, this spray also helps the fibers appear less matted and your hair will look more natural.
